ROAS is not profit. It does not cover fixed costs or establish which sales would have happened without advertising. ROAS is undefined at zero ad spend; ACoS is undefined at zero revenue. Without a positive margin before advertising, there is no finite break-even ROAS.
This tool processes your inputs locally in your browser. It does not upload your figures or files, or save them permanently.
Compare multiple campaigns from a CSV
Map a unique campaign ID, ad spend and ad revenue. Rows with the same ID are added together. Use comparable, non-overlapping data; do not mix total rows and detail rows.
UTF-8, up to 2 MB, 2,000 records, 100 columns and 10,000 characters per field. The file stays on your device.
For example, enter 4 for 4.00× or 400%. Do not enter a percentage.

Does not assess full profit. ROAS is not calculable at zero ad spend. The check does not access accounts or change campaigns. Preview: first 100 campaigns; CSV includes all.

03 / METHOD
How the calculation works
ROAS = attributed ad revenue ÷ ad spend
ACoS = ad spend ÷ ad revenue × 100. With a positive margin before advertising: break-even ROAS = 100 ÷ margin percentage. Contribution after advertising = revenue × margin before advertising − ad spend. Your margin must already account for all other variable costs.
An example to work through
Fictional example: €1,000 ad spend and €5,000 ad revenue give a ROAS of 5.00 and ACoS of 20%. With a 40% margin before advertising, break-even ROAS is 2.50 and contribution after advertising is €1,000.
ROAS is not profit. It does not cover fixed costs or establish which sales would have happened without advertising. ROAS is undefined at zero ad spend; ACoS is undefined at zero revenue. Without a positive margin before advertising, there is no finite break-even ROAS.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good ROAS?
It depends on your costs and goals. With complete inputs, break-even ROAS covers the included variable costs. Fixed costs and profit require an additional buffer.
Can I use this for OTTO Ads?
Yes, with comparable figures from your OTTO reports. Use the same period, revenue definition and consistent net values. Backlane can then help analyse available metrics from your connected OTTO campaigns.
