# Backlane — MCP server for eCommerce > Backlane is a hosted MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for eCommerce. It connects seller accounts to AI assistants so users can check inventory, work on listings and review orders from their AI chat. Website: https://getbacklane.com Languages: German (/) and English (/en/). The first version targets OTTO Market, Kaufland and Mirakl-based marketplaces. Users can query marketplace data and perform supported actions from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code with GitHub Copilot or another compatible MCP client. Backlane exposes marketplace API functions as MCP tools and hosts the server; users connect through a remote MCP URL and sign in with their Backlane account. Actions depend on marketplace APIs and permissions. Write access can be disabled for an organisation. Website workflows use illustrative data. Featured examples cover OTTO advertising spend and product-performance analysis, Kaufland Buybox offer comparisons, and sales comparisons of the same products across connected marketplaces. Advertising figures are attributed ad metrics, not profit. Cross-marketplace comparisons require matching products and a consistent time period. The website also provides starter prompts for stock, listing quality and open orders. ## Getting started - [German documentation](https://getbacklane.com/docs/): public setup, examples, permissions and troubleshooting. - [English documentation](https://getbacklane.com/en/docs/): the same guide in English. - [German setup guide, plain Markdown](https://getbacklane.com/setup.md): prerequisites, client instructions, configurations, OAuth sign-in and a connection check. - [English setup guide, plain Markdown](https://getbacklane.com/en/setup.md): the same instructions in English. - These public guides require no sign-in.
